Fall Vest + Life Catch Up

Wow the end of 2016 feels like it is just going to flying by! So much has happened this year it’s crazy to sit back and think about it. The most insane part is the year isn’t even over yet. One thing I’ve noticed a lot about 2016 is I’m becoming a lot more sentimental… thinking back on events and situations where God was clearly moving. For those of you who don’t know I’ve been in the middle of a transitional season from one job to my new current job.

Change. A word you either hate or love. I like to think I’m always ready for change, but more realistically it depends on what kind of change it is. Fall is my favorite season, and it’s all about change. The leaves change colors and then drift to the ground as they fall off preparing for the coming winter. This is always a sweet reminder that change is a good thing in our life. I’ve been trying very hard the last few months to balance out everything in my life. To find that sweet spot of being productive but also finding time to do things you love!

Anyways other than me blabbering on about life and what not I wanted to brag on this vest! I’ve been on the hunt for a good vest for fall and winter for a whole year now. And finally I found one! If navy isn’t your color that’s ok, they also offer it in pink, cream, and olive green. The material of this vest is perfect it’s not bulky or heavy, it’s great for every day wear or to keep you warm on those chilly fall nights. I apologize in advance if you see this piece over and over again…

Starbucks Tip: for a more nutty flavor try a Chia Latte with Almond Milk 🙂

There’s some serious picture overload in today’s post but I just couldn’t leave any of these out!

At the tail end of our trip Chris and I stayed an extra day with my parents which was one of the best parts of driving! We went to one of my favorite orchards and picked apples, pumpkins, and bought the most delicious pumpkin spice donuts ever made. (seriously I had one this morning and it was too good) The weather was cool and simply perfect for a fall day. Spending a day at the orchard reminded me of all the reasons I love fall! The cool crisp air, the beautiful colors, the fashion, and the sense of togetherness. Obviously there was a bunch of laughter going on behind camera as well! My parents kept making me laugh so hard I couldn’t take a single serious photo.

I loved the outfit I wore to the orchard! This green army jacket goes over so many tops it’s a must have for this season, and who can resist a good plaid shirt? I know I can’t! Come the first of September I’m more than ready to tuck away all my shorts and tanks and pull out my plaid shirts and cozy sweaters. Unfortunately Arkansas weather doesn’t always agree with me. (booooo) So now I’m stuck in oversized sweaters and scarfs sweating in the heat. Good thing our car has AC!

I’m working on a must have fall wardrobe list for all of you and I’m not going to lie you will want to buy all the items! Check out last years list here.

Do you have an orchard day planned for this fall?!

Instax Mini 8 Camera Review + Tips

In April I went on a business trip and brought along my brand new Instax Mini 8 pink camera and couldn’t wait to use it! I had seen a lot of bloggers, and instagramers using and raving about the Instax Mini 8 camera. So clearly I had to get one for my trip. Let me just say money well spent! My Mom and I had so much fun using and learning how to use my new/old camera. Isn’t it fun how everything old is now new again?

Not only is this camera fun and unique it also has it’s own learning curve. For the generation that didn’t grow up with polaroid cameras we’re at a disadvantage. With film costing $1 a pop learning how to not waste film becomes way more important. Unlike a digital camera, where you can snap 10 pictures and have 1 turn out. Film is different you don’t get a redo. I’m not going to lie I ruined a least a package or two of film learning how to adjust my setting for my Instax Mini 8 and how to snap a perfect polaroid.

Not wanting my fellow readers and friends to make the same naive mistakes I did here’s a few tips on how to rock you Instax Mini 8 photos!

Don’t Believe The Settings

On your Instax Mini 8 camera you have 5 settings. 1) a house,  2) a cloud,  3) a sun, 4) a bright sun, 5) and Hi-Ray. When you turn on the camera an orange light will flash where on what setting it suggests. Something I learned was make sure you’re pointing the camera directly at what you want to take a picture of and then view the suggested setting. This camera is highly sensitive to light, and even a different angle can affect the settings. Just because there’s a little house setting doesn’t mean that’s the best option for taking a photo inside.

Learn Where Your Focus Is

Unlike a digital camera the Instax Mini 8 has a focus that is slightly off. This is due to the fact that the lens isn’t lined up with viewer. Once you realize this all you need to do is simply adjust where you line up your lens for your photo! Easy fix!

Buy Extra Film

If you’re not a seasoned polaroid photographer you will for sure need to buy extra film. Don’t second guess this just do it! 1) you will either take some really bad photos first or 2) you will love this camera and have the desire to take photos non stop.

Practice Makes Perfect

Don’t sweat it! Practice makes perfect so don’t expect yourself to be a perfect right away. Take your time, have fun, and enjoy your new toy!

I’ve linked a few other favorite items for the Instax Mini 8 bellow that I have and love! Plus a cool printer where you can print photos from your phone on mini polaroid film! This is on my amazon wish list for sure!

A Prayer For Our Husbands 2016

Tomorrow marks two years of marriage for the cowboy and I. Within these past two years one of the most important lessons I am learning is to pray for my sweet husband. Our husbands go through so much and they rarely ask for help. As wives I believe it is our job to pray for our husbands daily. Prayer is a powerful tool we as women of Christ need to be using proactively to support our man! Last year I wrote A Prayer For Our Husbands and felt prompted to rewrite one for 2016. Each year my heart break a little more for our world, and each day our husbands are sent out into the world. Join me in praying for our husbands daily, because prayer works!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for brining me the perfect teammate. You knew exactly what we both would need to compliment each other and work together. You are so good God! Thank you for our marriage, and all that you have done and will do within our lives. There is no greater God than you, for you have created the perfect will for our marriage.

Today as I pray over my husband I ask that you protect him from harms way on his way to and from work. Give him favor with his bosses and colleagues, and let him be a positive light in his work space. I ask that you sharpen his discernment today, and give him clarity like never before. As he tackles the tasks laid out before him at work I pray you give him the focus he needs to complete them with excellence.

I pray you give him boldness to speak your name so that all who know my husband knows he serves a might God. In today’s world where hate and arguments rage I ask that you give him a wise tongue to know when to speak and when to listen. I ask for an abundance amount of energy over him, and a positive word for all those he interact with.

Amen!

Prayer is a beautiful thing, isn’t it?

|| Dress, Similar Dress || Similar Hat ||

Summer is ranked one of the most romantic seasons. Ok I’m not sure if that’s an actual fact but it seems like a very popular season for dating. Summer offers the best selection of dates in my opinion because there’s so much to do when the weather is nice! Today I’ve come up with some of my favorite summer date night ideas and one of my go to date night outfits!

Outfit

This dress from Target was worth every single penny. I’m basically holding myself back from buying it in every single color because it’s so comfortable. If you’ve been hanging around here all summer you know it’s blazing hot where I live so dressing cool and cute are top priorities and this dress is a winner! Cute and breezy perfect for a date night outside or inside. I bought this hat when we went on our honeymoon but rarely wear it. I think it adds the perfect splash of summer vibes paired with this dress! To top this look off I’ve added two of my favorite dainty pieces of jewelry, but a statement necklace would also look adorable.

Date Night Ideas

Ice Cream Date – This is one of my favorite date ideas for summer! It’s hot outside,  ice cream is inexpensive, and it’s delicious. Plus Dairy Queen only sells my favorite Blizzard during summer time, it’s the Cotton Candy one!

Mini Golf –  The cowboy and I love to mini golf. We live 45 minuets away from a tourist town so there’s endless amounts of mini golf courses and we love trying new ones on our date nights.

Try a New Restaurant –  It’s fun to try new things and it’s good for your soul! Branch out from your normal and try something new, if you don’t like it no biggie!

Starbucks – C’mon you had to know I would list this one! Nothing is sweeter than grabbing your favorite drink and sitting down to talk, or taking your drink and going for a walk.

What’s your favorite summer date night idea?

xoxo stephanie
